Childeren & Younger Youth

Ministry to children at First Lutheran Church begins with Let Me Shine Preschool. Now in its sixth year of operation, our preschool provides age appropriate early education for children aged three through five years of age. Under the supervision of Debbie Gibson, a Montana accredited elementary school educator, and Jan Sohl, artist and educator, the preschool provides solid, value-based education to the youngest in our midst.

Sunday School is a traditional Christian education format of music and Biblical based learning. Superintendent Jan Pratt relates all Sunday School programs to other youth related ministry.

Merrie Jan Von Eschen is church coordinator for younger youth. Bringing enthusiasm and creativity to her ministry, Merrie Jan leads the Wednesday after school program of activity and learning for elementary aged children.

Beginning in late 1999, a two day per week after school homework program will be offered at First Lutheran under her leadership. The program is non-religious in nature but will provide a safe, structured, educational environment for take-home school work, and enrichment for neighborhood kids. Supported by the area YMCA exploratory committee and public school teachers, this program will support parents and students in the all important process of learning and achievement.
